Student newsletter Omnis 2/2026

Spring is moving along quickly, and March has been meaningful in many ways at Omnia. The joint application period has now ended, and the growing interest in Omnia shows trust in the learning and everyday life we build here together – with students, staff and partners.

In recent weeks, we have taken time to focus on important themes during Anti-Racism Week and Equality and Equity Week. They remind us that, alongside knowledge and skills, education is also about learning to work together with everyone and building a safe and inclusive everyday environment for all.

We have once again had many reasons to feel proud. Our students’ success in the Finnish Championships semi-final, in cultural competition pre-events and in various sports reflects their competence, creativity and strong team spirit. Behind these achievements are courage to try, perseverance to practise and a shared willingness to work together. Congratulations, and best of luck in the upcoming SakuStars and Taitaja competitions.

We have sent a survey to guardians to gather valuable feedback on students’ studies and everyday life. The responses help us continue developing Omnia and better understand what matters most for students’ learning and well-being. Based on feedback from students and guardians, several improvements to teaching arrangements are being planned for next autumn.

Spring continues towards even brighter days. I wish everyone enthusiasm for learning, experiences of success and strength for the rest of the semester.

At Omnia, you can graduate flexibly almost every week, but there are a few important timelines related to graduation that you should keep in mind well in advance.

Certificates are usually issued on Fridays

Certificates are issued on Fridays between 9 January and 26 June 2026.
If a Friday falls on a public holiday, the graduation day will be the Thursday of that same week.

Your certificate is signed on your graduation day and delivered to you electronically within approximately one week.

Remember the most important rule

All your study units must be completed and assessed about two weeks before your desired graduation date.

Applying for further studies? Check the spring deadlines

If you are applying to higher education or upper secondary education through the joint application system after graduation, please note the following timelines:

• General upper secondary and vocational upper secondary students:
  All completed studies and graduation must be recorded by the end of April.
• Vocational students:
  All studies must be completed and your Personal Competence Development Plan (HOKS) updated by early May.
• TUVA and adult basic education (joint application to upper secondary):
  Assessments and graduation information must be recorded during week 22.

Graduation is a big milestone, and at Omnia it is celebrated together.

Spring graduation ceremonies:

• Adult basic education: 22 May 2026
• Further and Specialist Vocational Qualifications: 28 May 2026
• TUVA: 29 May 2026
• High school graduation: 29 May 2026
• Vocational qualifications: 2–4 June 2026

When you graduate, you will receive a personal invitation to the graduation ceremony by email. You must register for the ceremony no later than one week before the event.

This is also the final possible graduation date if you wish to participate in the spring ceremony. Students graduating after the deadline will be invited to the autumn ceremony.

The Omnia Student Union is organising a prom for all Omnia students on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at the Kirkkokatu campus. The event is exclusively for Omnia students and is substance-free.

Are you wondering what to do after your studies or exploring your options? Omnia’s career guidance helps you plan your education and career path—whether you want to build on your current skills or move into a completely new field.

In career guidance, you will explore together what opportunities are available for developing your skills and what kind of support you can receive. Your interests, skills, education and previous work experience are all taken into account. You will also receive information about study options both at Omnia and in other institutions.

Career guidance also available in Leppävaara from 2 April 2026

Career guidance will also be available at the Leppävaara campus on Thursdays starting from 2 April. You can book an appointment by contacting the Service Centre or through the online booking system (ajanvarauksetprod.powerappsportals.com). Appointments are available from 2 April onwards.

Career guidance is also available on Mondays at the Kirkkokatu campus, and on Wednesdays without an appointment at the Iso Omena Service Centre advisory desk.

Service Centre supports your everyday student life

Omnia’s Service Centre offers advice and guidance on many study-related matters.

You can get help, for example, with work-based learning and practical aspects of your studies.

Are you considering whether an apprenticeship could be the right way for you to study and find employment? At the Service Point, you can now book a personal guidance session on apprenticeships.

During the session, you can work together with an expert to:

• reflect on your own goals
• find out if an apprenticeship suits you
• identify a training path that fits your needs

You can study through an apprenticeship if you have a job. An apprenticeship can also be arranged for a summer job or other short-term employment contract. You can get more information about different options through apprenticeship guidance.

Ohjaamotalo's Starttipiste offers low-threshold support for young people in different life situations.

The Start Point is intended for young people under the age of 30 living in Espoo or Kauniainen who need help with issues such as housing, finances, job searching or wellbeing.

The Start Point operates without appointments at Omnia’s Service Point on Kirkkokatu, in the A section of the building.
