Changing teaching and future skills

Project description

The objective of the mobility project for Espoo High School for Adults was to observe the 21st century skills in order to foster them in our tuition. In the future students will be required abilities and skills which cannot be defined exactly today. There remains a question what abilities and skills are essential to cope with the future learning environment and working life. In job-shadowing sessions in-service teachers were able to observe how general- and teaching practices of the hosting organization foster the skills mentioned above. What kind of challenges do in-service teachers face in promoting skills needed in the future? A session at a hosting organization abroad helped us reflect on how we could work in our teaching groups in such a way that it fosters the development of these skills. Also, in keeping with the present curriculum, we were looking for tools and materials for cross-curricular modules, aiming to bring together the tuition of Finnish, foreign languages, humanities and science.
