Finnish working life and vocational education are undergoing the most drastic changes in their history, and adult education research is fighting to secure its place in the jungle of research funding. Future working life experts should be trained in internal entrepreneurship, digital data systems and technologies. Social media discloses and evaluates educational institutions on to a discussion forum open for all. Vocational institutes are expected to open their door to everyone and stay open 24/7.
Is the radical educational reform heading for safe waters, and will future generations retain our optimistic view on higher learning, teaching and research? How to ensure the status of vocational education and lifelong learning in the future?
These are the critical questions discussed at the next Higher and Vocational Education Research Days welcoming researchers and teachers from all types of educational institutes. Omnia, in co-operation with the Finnish Vocational Educational Research Association FiVERA and City of Espoo, wants to bring theory and practice together when organising the Higher and Vocational Education Research Days 2018. The programme offers a rich mix of research and development – with a close connection to working life.
The programme will be published in May 2018.
