The focus is on discussing the elements of sustainable development, which are important to an entrepreneur.

Omnia is participating by request in European Commission’s Education and Innovation Summit, which will take place as a hybrid event on the 23rd of June. The event has approximately 400 participants.

In the event, the results of the "Healthy food choices for a sustainable future” project will be presented with a focus on entrepreneurship education and sustainable development. Omnia will join the events’ Breakout session 1: Inspiring innovation culture and developing future-proof skills.

Focus on sustainable development

The project ended in 2018, and its results have been delivered successfully. In the early 2022, the project was selected for a publication called Study on data collection and analysis of the Erasmus+ projects focusing on education for environmental sustainability together with other 14 projects.

“In our presentation, we will be discussing the elements of sustainable development, which are important to an entrepreneur. One of our approaches is social entrepreneurship”, says Mika Heino, Specialist in International Affairs at Omnia.

Marketing and entrepreneurial skills

The summit will take place in Brussels and online. Oona Haapakorpi, Teacher in Restaurant and Catering Services at Omnia, uses the story of Omnia’s former student as an example of the project’s success.

“One of our former students participated in the project, and he is now a co-founder at the same restaurant in Brussels where he worked during this project. We have been teaching our students how to market themselves in the industry and have an entrepreneurial spirit. Also, from the same group of the project, there is a person now working in a Michelin star restaurant”, she says.

Both Heino and Haapakorpi are proud to be representing Omnia and the project at the summit.

“This is a great experience and a sign of trust and appreciation, which we are happy to accept. The project has already ended, and it is our pleasure to continue to present its results to this audience”, they state.
